Fabulously Fashionable Poncho

Approximately 15 ounces of 3 ply Boucle’ yarn. (You will have some left over, but its better to have too much than too little.)
Size I and size J Crochet Hook

Collar/Yoke/Shoulder

Foundation Row: Ch 44, turn. In 4th chain from the hook, tc. Tc in next 9 sts. Dc in next 10 sts. Hdc in next 10 sts. Sc in next 10 sts. (40 total sts) ch 1, turn. Mark this side as the right side.

Row 1: Blsc (back loop single crochet in first 10 sc. Blhdc in next 10 hdc. Bldc in next 10 dc. Bltc in next 10 tc. (40 total sts) Ch 3 turn.

Row 2: Bltc in first tc and in next 11 tc (10 tc total). Bldc in next 10 sts. Blhdc in next 10 sts. Blsc in next 10 sts. (40 total sts) Ch 1 turn.

Rows 3 - 58: Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 55 more rows. Finish off, leave length of yarn for joining.

Join: Fold in half joining right sides together. Using large darning needle, sew up along one side of collar/yoke/shoulder piece. Weave in loose end. Turn so the right side is facing out.


Lace Bottom

With J hook join yarn with a sl st at seam of collar/yoke/shoulder piece. Sc 122 sts evenly around. Join with a sl st to first sc. Do not turn. You will be working in rounds from this point.

Rnd 1: ch 6, tc in same st (this is a beg V st). * Sk 2 sc, tc ch 2 tc ( this is a V st) * around. At end of round, sk last scs. Join with sl st to 4th ch st at top of first tc. There will be 40 V sts around.

Rnd 2: Sl st to center of first V st. Ch 6. Dc in same V st. *V st in next V st, Ch 1* around. Sl st in 4th ch st at top of first tc.

Rnd 3: Repeat row 2.

Rnd 4: Sl st to center of first V st. Ch 4, dc, 2 ch 2 dc in same V st. (beginning shell st made). * V st in next V st, 2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc (shell stitch) in next V st. * around. Join with sl st in 4th ch of first st of beginning shell.

Rnd 5: Sl st to center of beg shell st. Make beg shell st, ch 1. * V st in next V st, ch 1, shell in next shell st, ch 1 * around. Join with sl st in 4th ch for first st of beg shell.
Rnd 6: Sl st to center of first shell. Ch 4, 2 dc, 2 ch 3 dc in this shell. (beginning large shell st made). *ch 1, V st in next V st, ch 1, 3 dc, 2 ch, 3 dc (shell stitch) in next V st. * around. Join with sl st in 4th ch of first st of beginning large shell. You will have 20 shell sts and 20 V sts.

Rnd 7: Repeat rnd 5.

Rnd 8: Sl st to center of first shell. Ch 5. 5 dtc (double treble crochet) in same shell. * ch 1, dc in center of next V st. ch 1, 10 dtc in center of next shell * around. 5 dc in first shell. Join with sl st to top of ch 5. Finish off. Weave in loose ends.
